Linen Bedding Care

Contrary to popular belief, caring for linen bedding is not complicated at all. Just follow a few simple rules and everything will be perfect

The first wash delicate stage

To prevent the beautiful colours of your linen bedding from fading over time, we recommend soaking it in a basin of water overnight.

This will help set the colours and make your linens softer, so they become even softer with age. Ideally, perform this simple ritual before making your bed for the first time.

After soaking overnight, you can put your linen bedding in your washing machine and run a cycle at a maximum of 30°C, preferably with a mild, natural detergent. Spin at a maximum of 800 rpm.

Daily care, drying and ironing

After the first wash, you can wash your laundry at 40°C for a standard wash. Spin at 800 rpm. However, if you want to get rid of all the tiny germs and bacteria hiding in your sheets or pillowcases, opt for a 60°C wash.

As for drying, you can either tumble dry or air dry your linen bedding. Tumble drying will make your linen sheets much softer. In this case, we recommend using the delicate or ready-to-iron setting on your dryer, meaning the sheets will come out slightly damp. We also advise unfolding and refolding the sheets before putting them in the dryer to prevent them from bunching up and hindering proper drying. Take them out as soon as the cycle is finished for a beautiful, natural wrinkle!

Finally, ironing your linen bedding isn't necessary. It has a lovely, slightly wrinkled look that adds to its charm: why not? If you do decide to iron your linen, never do so when it's dry. Always lightly dampen your sheets, and iron them on the reverse side to avoid creases.

How to get rid of a stain on linen?

If you have spilled your cup of coffee on your duvet cover, don't panic! Linen is a very stain-resistant fabric, especially if you've followed the water and vinegar soak rule before the first wash. However, be sure to act as quickly as possible, before the stain has time to set.

Depending on the type of stain, the tips to apply will vary:

  • To remove blood stains, it couldn't be simpler: just rinse the stain with cold water and it will disappear after a wash in the washing machine.
  • Did you spill a grease stain? Rub it with a little mild dish soap and let it sit overnight before putting it in the washing machine. Your bedding will be as good as new!
  • Did your cup of coffee spill on your sheets? Pour on lemon juice or white vinegar and rub well. Then, give it a quick wash in the washing machine. If you need more advice, don't hesitate to contact us at contact@zouf.biz, we'll be happy to answer all your questions!
