Gilbert XO Cognac - 70cl

Stylistically inspired by the art nouveau of Gilbert’s golden age, Cellar Master François Gilbert presents us with a fine Very Special Cognac that has been aged for at least 2 years in French oak casks, and is the perfect option for cocktails and long drinks

  • Our agricole Amber Rum des Pasteurs reveals candied orange peels aromas as well as toasted and slightly vanilla notes
  • Slim Cognac bottle with its gold seal. The label is intricately illustrated with a host of golden and berry pink tones in the shape of a blossoming tree. This bottle is graphically inspired by the art nouveau print that was popular around the time founder Séverin Gilbert took his Cognac to the World Fair in Belgium, and will take pride of place in any drinks collection
  • Harmonious, with a power that does not harm the full aromatic expression. A finale of toasted bread and citrus accompanied by a pleasant roundness
  • Can be served neat and at room temperature to bring out its full aromatic potential, but can also be experimented with over ice. We recommend trying the XO Gilbert in a Negroni cocktail
  • Alcohol: 40%
  • Size: 70cl with a gorgeous ivory circular presentation box with gold detailing
  • A Double Gold award-winning VS Cognac
  • Alcohol abuse is dangerous for the health

More Info

Having tended to vines since the end of the 18th century in Rétaud, Séverin was the first of the Gilbert family to create a Cognac in his own name in 1885.

The terroir of Rétaud is on the border of the Bons Bois and Fins Bois terroirs, and has always been known for the quality of its eaux-de-vie. The limestone content of the soil of Rétaud meant that Cognac Gilbert was awarded at the Universal Exhibition of Liège, Belgium in 1905.

Today, the family tradition is upheld through François Gilbert, the great-grandson of Séverin, who selects and assembles eaux-de-vie to make award-winning blends from singular terroirs

In 2018, the first set of “Coupés” were born again under the name of François, a set of bottles that were graphically inspired by the Golden Age of his great grandfather’s Cognacs and the “Art Nouveau” movement.

In 2019, more than 130 years after it was founded, their VS Cognac received a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and their XO a Gold Medal.
