All-Bisque Doll Penelope

A very charming little Penelope doll from the 1920s with an intact and no defect porcelain head and an articulated body

• She has a small string at the level of the thorax and when you pull it, the doll squeak. The cord still exists but the mechanism no longer works. The elastics have been reassembled. On the back of her neck is written: DEP
• Penelope is 55 centimeters tall, her brown eyes are sleepy. Her mouth is opened, and her ears are pierced. She is dressed in a charming cotton dress and black leather shoes. Brown wig in leather imitation. Her outfit is embellished with a small flowered hat and she is holding a charming decorated tin bucket
• Bisque is unglazed porcelain which was first created in the late 1860s by French firms. Porcelain is created from a paste of clays and water which is moulded and then fired at temperatures above 2300 F. After firing, the moulded doll head is fired several times more after applications of paints the doll's features. Most of the time an application of colour is applied to create a more realistic skin tone. If there is no colour added to the bisque and it is left white and unglazed
